For over 40 years the Machado Brothers have been dedicated to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu . The name RCJ carries the initials of each of the five brothers (“R” for Roger and Rigan, “C” for Carlos, and ”J” for Jean-Jacques and John). Nephews to the founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, late master “Carlos Gracie”, the Machado Brothers learned from an early age the martial art that eventually exploded all over the world. The Machado’s had the honor to learn from several of their cousins from the Gracie family. Among them, their main instructors were Carlos Gracie Jr. and also Crolin Gracie. In addition to the nuances of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Machado’s also incorporated in their teaching the philosophy preached by late master Carlos Gracie, one of humility and service, illustrated by the motto “LEAVE YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR”. Each brother has accomplished remarkable success on their own right, both as competitors and instructors, winning national, pan-american and world titles, and occasionally venturing in the entertainment world (with multiple appearances on TV shows and motion pictures). They have been portrayed on hundreds of covers of the main martial arts magazines. Besides the media coverage, the brothers have also published instructional DVD series, Books, TV documentaries, comic books, etc. RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu is on a mission to bring the best of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the World. RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu believes the practice of Martial Arts, specifically Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has the ultimate goal of providing students with a tool to improve themselves as individuals, and adopt a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. That was the first and most important lesson we learned , and that is the one we strive to pass onto our students for decades to come.
